I was born in
São Miguel, Açores and lived there for the first seven years of my life. My family and I then moved to Terceira, a neighbouring Azorean island, where I
developed a fondness for agua e terra (water and earth). At age 10, I was assimilated as John, when I immigrated to Canada.
That is when I realised that children are capable of amazing things -
especially change. Being the sixth of seven surviving children, I have
many cherished early
childhood memories. |

I like to get involved in community projects that relate to artistic
development, music, nature and science. My interest in art has developed
into practical forms where by, the line between art and utility has been
blurred.
Spiritually in touch, I vividly dream in black and white and also in
colour, while having the ability to switch back and forth.
